Think Up: 96 excellent ICT companies from Torino Piemonte (Italy) The second year of the Think Up Project has started in September 2008; 96 excellent ICT companies from Piemonte have been selected to connect advanced technologies with the requests of small-medium enterprises, corporations, public administrations, universities from all over the world. The selection was made on the basis of strict evaluation parameters: technology, innovation and project development skills, as well as the presence of a structured staff for the management of business relations with foreign partners. Participant companies are divided in two groups: those working for the private sector (75) and those working for public administration bodies (42), of which 21 companies operating for both the private and the public sector. These enterprises cover many segments of production and show a wide range of offer: - Multimedia: virtual reality, web design, multidimensional graphics, e-learning, IPTV, Content Management System, technologies with highly potential growth.
- Security: extremely interesting products and services answering the needs of the latest international request for new security solutions. Companies can offer, also on an aggregated level, innovative solutions (video recorded surveillance, biometrical solutions, access control, software, etc.).
- ITS - Intelligent Transport Systems: the Piedmontese tradition in car manufacturing and the number of enterprises active in this field allowed the development of strong competences in mobility problems monitoring and management.
- ERP: management solutions are points of reference for the regional entrepreneurial context. Many internationally renowned vertical products are made in Piemonte.
- Industrial automation: this is one of the sectors where ICT companies answer the needs of the regional entrepreneurial factories by providing advanced solutions to support the manufacturing of automotive, aerospace, textile, agro-food and wine industries.
- Finance: national leader banks and insurances enabled the growth of the related Ict competences. In addition, despite the limited numbers expressed, Piemonte hosts other important fields of action: basic software/hardware, TLC, database management and e-health.
Think Up main activities, carried out to support and promote the internationalization of Think Up companies, are: - Participation in important international events, fairs and business meetings based on the match between offer and demand.
- Invitations to international purchase managers to illustrate their development and supply policies and to meet Piedmontese companies, research centers and universities to evaluate business opportunities.
- Organization of courses and seminars dedicated to international business themes.
- Organization and coordination of strategic business missions to foreign countries to meet international bodies and to explore business opportunities.
- Realization of focused researches for partners in targeted countries (Chzech Republic, France, Germany and United Arab Emirates for the first year; Chzech Republic, Germany, Poland, Turkey and United Arab Emirates for the second year).
